The Most Advanced Turntable in the Debut Series
The Debut Reference 10 brings premium materials, extensive adjustment, and balanced-output capability to Pro-Ject's long-running Debut series. Its 10-inch carbon-aluminum tonearm, acrylic platter, and pre-adjusted Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge form a carefully matched analog source built for serious listening.
This fully manual belt-drive turntable plays 33 and 45rpm records with electronic speed selection; a separate round belt supports 78rpm operation, though playing shellac also requires an appropriate 78rpm-specific stylus.
Everything here sits a genuine step above the rest of the Debut line, from the tonearm and platter material down to the sub-platter bearing itself, not just the finish or the badge.
A 10-Inch Hybrid Tonearm and Acrylic Platter
Accurate Tracking from a Carbon-Aluminum Tonearm
The one-piece 10-inch tonearm combines carbon fiber for rigidity with aluminum for internal damping. Its longer, 254mm effective length reduces tracking-angle error compared to a conventional 8.6-inch arm, especially near the inner grooves.
Both vertical tracking angle and azimuth are adjustable, allowing careful alignment of the included cartridge or a future replacement, with a damped counterweight and adjustable anti-skating supporting stable tracking throughout.
An Acrylic Platter on a Precision Aluminum Sub-Platter
The 300mm acrylic platter provides a direct record surface, eliminating the need for a separate mat. Beneath it, a diamond-cut aluminum sub-platter is manufactured to tighter tolerances than a conventional molded component, rotating on a stainless-steel axle inside a bronze bushing.
Electronic switching moves between 33 and 45rpm with no belt to reposition, and the motor sits isolated inside the chassis on damped mounts to limit vibration transfer into the platter.
Who Is the Debut Reference 10 Best For?
- You want the most advanced turntable in the Debut series — the tonearm, platter material, and sub-platter bearing are all a step above the rest of the line
- You want a cartridge already installed and pre-adjusted — the Pick it PRO Balanced arrives factory-mounted, reducing setup versus a no-cartridge turntable
- You're planning to add a balanced phono stage, now or later — the built-in mini XLR output is ready whenever you are
- You only need a standard RCA connection today — that output is built in too, so nothing forces an immediate upgrade
- You want the most advanced tonearm and platter in the Debut line — a 10-inch carbon-aluminium arm on a 300mm acrylic platter
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect the included RCA phono cable to an amp or receiver's MM phono input, or to an outboard phono preamp — there's no phono stage built into the turntable itself.
The mini XLR output needs a balanced phono preamp and a matching mini-XLR cable, both sold separately, to run in True Balanced mode.
Pairs Well With
Where the Debut Reference 10 goes from here:
- Phono preamplifiers — required, since none is built in
- Cables — a balanced mini-XLR cable is a separate purchase whenever you're ready to go balanced
- Audio racks — a rigid, level shelf lets the damped feet do their job
- Record cleaning accessories — clean records sound better and protect the stylus
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Debut Reference 10 include a cartridge?
Yes. The Pick it PRO Balanced moving-magnet cartridge comes pre-mounted and pre-adjusted at the factory.
Do I need a phono preamp?
Yes. Connect it to an amp or receiver's MM phono input, or add an external phono preamplifier; it can't feed a standard line-level input directly.
Do I need a balanced phono stage to use it?
It works fine without one. The RCA output runs with any standard phono stage; the balanced mini XLR output is there whenever you want to use it.
Is there automatic start, stop, or tonearm return?
There isn't. This is a fully manual turntable, cued and lifted by hand.
What comes in the box?
The turntable with cartridge installed, a dust cover, an RCA phono cable, a 78rpm belt, a 7-inch single adapter, and the power supply.
What's the warranty?
A two-year limited manufacturer warranty covers the Debut Reference 10.
