Vinyl Made Simple, Straight Out of the Box
The Pro-Ject E1 Phono is built for one thing: getting a record playing with as little fuss as possible. An Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge comes pre-mounted and aligned at the factory, and a built-in phono preamp means you can run straight into any powered speaker or amp input, no separate phono stage required.
Underneath sits an 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm and a 300mm platter made from anti-resonant ABS polymer, topped with a felt mat. A silicon drive belt connects to the motor for smooth, well-damped speed control, and 33 and 45rpm switch electronically at the touch of a button.
The plinth itself is CNC-machined composite fiber, available in high gloss black, satin white, or walnut — built solid rather than hollow, to keep resonance well out of the signal path entirely.
A Switchable Phono Preamp for Easy Setup
Line or Phono Output, Your Choice
A switch on the back selects Line or Phono output. Set to Line, the built-in stage does the work and the deck plugs into any line input on a receiver, integrated amp, or powered speaker.
There's no separate ground wire to fuss with either way, since the phono stage and its grounding both live inside the plinth itself, already wired and ready to go straight out of the box.
A Tonearm Built for Future Upgrades
The 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm is lightweight and low-friction, matched at the factory to bring out the best of the included AT3600L cartridge, while staying versatile enough for other cartridges down the road.
An acrylic dust cover with adjustable hinges, a gold-plated RCA phono cable, a felt mat, and a 7-inch adapter for 45rpm singles all ship in the box, ready to go.
Who Is This Turntable Best For?
- First-time vinyl buyers — the pre-mounted cartridge and built-in phono stage mean you're playing records within minutes
- Anyone without a phono input on their amp — the internal preamp outputs a standard line-level signal any input will accept
- Listeners who want to upgrade later — the tonearm and plinth can take a better cartridge down the road, once you know what you like
- Your amplifier already has a phono input — a switch on the back sends the signal out unamplified, so you can use the phono stage you already own instead of the built-in one
- You want the arm to lift itself — this is a fully manual deck; you cue it down and lift it off yourself, with nothing stopping the platter automatically
How Does It Connect to Your System?
With the back-panel switch left on Line, run the included gold-plated RCA cable straight into any line input on a receiver, integrated amp, or powered speaker — no other component required in between.
Already own a phono preamp you'd rather use? Flip that same switch to Phono, and the E1 Phono sends out its raw, unamplified cartridge signal instead, ready for that outboard stage or your amp's own phono input.
Pairs Well With
Where the E1 Phono goes from here:
- Phono cartridges — for when you're ready to move beyond the factory-installed AT3600L
- Integrated amplifiers — to complete a simple, no-fuss system
- Audio racks — for a stable, level surface
- Record cleaning accessories — a clean record is the cheapest upgrade there is
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate phono preamp?
The E1 Phono has one built in, so it outputs a line-level signal ready for any amp or powered speaker.
Can I swap in a different cartridge later?
Yes. The aluminum tonearm accepts standard replacement cartridges, so you can upgrade from the factory AT3600L whenever you're ready.
How do I change speed?
Electronically, from a control on the plinth. There's no belt to move between pulleys, which is the usual chore at this price.
What comes in the box?
The turntable with the cartridge already fitted, an acrylic dust cover with adjustable hinges, a felt mat, a gold-plated RCA cable, a 7-inch adapter, and the power supply.
What's the warranty?
Two years standard, extendable to three years if you register within four months of purchase.
