Pro-Ject's Plug-and-Play Entry Point Into Vinyl
The E1 is Pro-Ject's first E-series turntable, built to deliver a genuine Pro-Ject listening experience on a limited budget. It's handmade in Europe, with tracking force and anti-skating pre-adjusted at the factory so there's no lengthy setup before your first record.
This package ships with an Audio-Technica AT3600L moving-magnet cartridge pre-mounted and precision-aligned by hand at the factory, running on an 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm built to accept other cartridges if you upgrade later.
The E1 is also sold as the E1 Phono (adds a built-in phono preamp) and the E1 BT (adds Bluetooth and a built-in phono preamp) — this base model keeps things simplest, for a system that already has a phono input or an outboard phono preamp.
High-Performance Features at an Entry-Level Price
A CNC-Machined Plinth and Anti-Resonant Platter
The plinth is CNC-machined composite fiber, built solid rather than hollow to keep resonance out of the signal path — a real step up from the particle board common at this price. It's available in high gloss black, satin white, or walnut.
The 300mm ABS polymer platter is reinforced with internal ridges for an anti-resonant surface, and it's topped with a felt mat. An 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm keeps things light and low-friction, and it's built to accept other cartridges if you decide to upgrade down the road.
Electronic Speed Control, No Belt to Move
A single switch changes speed between 33 and 45rpm electronically, so there's no lifting the platter or moving a belt between pulleys by hand — a genuine convenience at this price, and one less thing to get wrong.
An acrylic dust cover with adjustable hinges, an RCA phono cable, a felt mat, and a 7-inch adapter for 45rpm singles all round out the box, included standard with every E1 you buy.
Who Is This Turntable Best For?
- You want a genuine Pro-Ject turntable at an entry price — the plinth, platter, and tonearm are all built to the same standards as pricier Pro-Ject models
- Your amp or receiver already has a phono input — or you already own an outboard phono preamp to pair with it
- You want a factory-matched cartridge, ready to play — the Audio-Technica AT3600L arrives pre-mounted and aligned
- You want push-button speed change — 33 and 45rpm switch electronically, with no belt to move
- You want a built-in phono preamp or Bluetooth — the E1 Phono and E1 BT add those, respectively, at a step up in price
How Does It Connect to Your System?
The E1 has no built-in phono preamp, so its RCA phono cable needs either your amp or receiver's PHONO input, or an external phono preamp feeding a regular line input.
Once connected, the AT3600L's standard moving-magnet output works with any standard MM phono stage.
Pairs Well With
Where the E1 goes from here:
- Phono preamplifiers — required if your amp doesn't have a phono input
- Phono cartridges — the aluminum tonearm leaves room for a future cartridge upgrade
- Integrated amplifiers — with a phono input suited to moving-magnet cartridges, or paired with a separate phono preamp
- Record cleaning accessories — clean records sound better and protect the stylus
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the E1 include a cartridge?
Yes. An Audio-Technica AT3600L moving-magnet cartridge is pre-mounted and aligned at the factory.
Does it have a built-in phono preamp?
It needs an external phono preamp or an amp with a phono input — there's no phono stage built in. The E1 Phono adds one, if that's what you need.
How do I change speeds?
Flip the switch. Both 33 and 45rpm are electronic, with no belt to move between pulleys.
Is a dust cover included?
Yes, an acrylic dust cover with adjustable hinges ships with every E1.
Can I upgrade the cartridge later?
Yes. The aluminum tonearm accepts a wide range of other cartridges when you're ready to move beyond the AT3600L.
What's the warranty?
Two years standard, extendable to three years if you register within four months of purchase.
