Pro-Ject Measure it E: Electronic Stylus Tracking Force Gauge
Measure it E is a digital stylus balance for setting your cartridge's tracking force. It measures up to 5 grams in 0.01-gram steps.
It comes with a 5 g calibration weight, a protective pouch and a user guide. Two LR43 button-cell batteries are included, plus two spares.
Auto Calibration
Hold the MODE button until the display shows CAL, then place the 5 g weight on the platform. After about five seconds the display confirms PASS. You can recheck accuracy whenever you like.
Four Weighing Modes and a Backlit Display
It reads in grams, ounces, pennyweight or carats. The backlit LCD switches on with the gauge. It turns itself off after 30 seconds to save the batteries.
How It Fits Your Turntable Setup
The gauge sits on your platter under the stylus. You lower the stylus onto the black dot on the platform, read the force, and adjust your tonearm's counterweight to match your cartridge maker's figure.
It measures tracking force only. It does not set alignment or anti-skating. Never load it with more than 5 g; Pro-Ject warns that overloading can permanently damage it.
Who Is This Stylus Gauge Best For?
- New turntable owners — set tracking force by reading it, not by guessing.
- Cartridge upgraders — dial in the new cartridge's recommended force.
- Regular setup checks — recheck force after moving or adjusting your deck.
- Precision seekers — 0.01 g steps with auto calibration.
- Not for — anything heavier than 5 g, or alignment and anti-skate setup.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
- Make sure your turntable is level.
- Remove the stylus guard and the gauge's protection cover, then set the gauge on the platter.
- Turn it on and wait about 30 seconds for it to settle at 0.00.
- Lower the stylus onto the black dot and read the tracking force.
- Lift the arm, adjust the counterweight, and repeat until you reach the recommended force.
