Four Linear Power Supplies in One Chassis
If you've built a system around Pro-Ject's Box Design components, you've likely got a rack full of them — a DAC Box, a CD Box, a Pre Box, a phono stage — each one tethered to its own wall adapter. The Power Box RS2 Sources replaces four of those adapters with a single audio-grade linear supply, feeding up to four 20V RS or RS2 devices from one box.
Fewer adapters behind the rack, one power cord instead of four, and a meaningful sonic upgrade to every component you connect. Four mini XLR cables are included, so everything you need to make the connections is in the carton.
Why Linear Power Matters Most for Source Components
Small-signal components — DACs, streamers, phono stages, preamps — are the most sensitive things in your system to supply noise, because there's so little signal to begin with. The switching adapters they ship with are noisy by design, and that noise ends up in the analog stages where it obscures exactly the low-level information you paid for.
The Power Box RS2 Sources is built around a massive audio-grade toroidal transformer that occupies roughly a third of the chassis. Toroidals radiate very little stray magnetic field, and a linear design generates none of the RF hash a switch-mode supply does. The result is what Pro-Ject designed it for: deeper silence between notes, a soundstage with more air around it, and low-level detail that was previously buried.
Engineered Throughout, Not Just a Big Transformer
A 10,000 μF filtering bank with low-ESR capacitors keeps ripple to a maximum of 6mV peak-to-peak, and precise regulation on each of the four rectified outputs holds voltage to within 0.5%. Very low output impedance combined with substantial power reserve means the supply never strains, even with all four outputs loaded.
A soft-start system prevents inrush current at switch-on — easier on the supply and on your components. The mains isolation transformer uses copper foil shielding, and the whole assembly sits in a rigid full-aluminum housing that keeps external interference out.
Black or Silver, Made in Europe
Choose the finish that matches the rest of your Box Design stack — the aluminum housing is offered in both black and silver, in the same dimensions as the RS2 components it sits alongside.
Before You Order
This supply is for 20V RS and RS2 components. It connects via mini XLR to Pro-Ject sources and preamps in the RS and RS2 lines — Pre Box, DAC Box, CD Box, and Phono Box among them. It is not a universal power supply and won't work with components that use a standard DC barrel input or a different voltage.
If you're not certain your components take a 20V mini XLR feed, call us before ordering and we'll confirm it against your specific models.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which of my components will this power?
Any Pro-Ject RS or RS2 source or preamp that takes a 20V supply through a mini XLR connection — that covers most of the Box Design RS and RS2 line, including the Pre Box, DAC Box, CD Box, and Phono Box. Check the input on the back of each component, or call us and we'll go through your rack with you.
Do I have to use all four outputs?
No. Power one component now and add more as your system grows — the supply has ample reserve, and unused outputs cost you nothing. Many owners start with the component they consider most revealing and expand from there.
How much difference will I actually hear?
More than most power accessories deliver, because you're replacing four switching adapters feeding small-signal circuits — the place where supply noise does the most damage. Expect a quieter background, better instrument separation, and low-level detail that simply wasn't audible before. The improvement compounds as you connect more components.
