Reference-Level Vinyl Playback with a Foundation Built for Stability
The Pro-Ject RPM 10 Carbon is a high-end belt-drive turntable for listeners who want to select their own cartridge and build a serious analog front end. Its substantial plinth, magnetically suspended platter, isolated outboard motor, and 10-inch carbon-fiber tonearm are designed to give the cartridge a stable, low-resonance platform for tracing the record groove.
This version does not include a cartridge or built-in phono preamp. You will need a compatible phono cartridge and either a separate phono preamplifier or an amplifier with an appropriate phono input.
Heavy, Low-Resonance Construction
The CNC-machined plinth combines MDF, carbon fiber, and resin-coated steel pellets in a mass-loaded sandwich construction. Pro-Ject also applies a specialized thermal treatment to the plinth. Together, these design choices are intended to control structural resonance before it can interfere with playback.
The included Ground it Carbon equipment base adds another substantial layer of isolation. Magnetic feet decouple the base from the supporting surface, helping protect the turntable from vibration transmitted through a rack, floor, or nearby loudspeakers.
A 10.4 kg Platter with Magnetic Suspension
At the center of the RPM 10 Carbon is a 10.4 kg aluminum platter. Internal TPE damping and an integrated vinyl record surface help control unwanted platter resonance. Magnetic suspension relieves part of the load on the inverted stainless-steel main bearing, which uses a ceramic ball and plate.
An outboard motor keeps the drive system physically separated from the plinth. Its built-in Speed Box circuitry provides electronically regulated operation and convenient switching between 33 and 45 rpm without manually moving the belt. Optional 78 rpm playback requires the appropriate accessory pulley and belt.
A Fully Adjustable 10-Inch Carbon-Fiber Tonearm
The pre-mounted 10cc Evolution tonearm uses a one-piece conical carbon-fiber arm tube and headshell. Its 10-inch effective length helps reduce tracking-angle error, while adjustable vertical tracking angle and azimuth support accurate cartridge setup. Four supplied counterweights accommodate cartridges weighing approximately 5 to 14 grams.
Because this model is supplied without a cartridge, you can choose an MM or MC design suited to your system and listening priorities. Accurate cartridge mounting, alignment, tracking-force, azimuth, and anti-skating adjustments are essential. Professional installation is recommended if you do not already have the necessary tools and experience.
Is the Pro-Ject RPM 10 Carbon Right for You?
- Best for a carefully matched analog system: Its adjustable tonearm and supplied counterweights support a broad selection of high-quality cartridges.
- Requires a cartridge and phono stage: Neither component is built in or included with this no-cartridge version.
- Plan for its size and weight: The turntable weighs 48.5 lb., while the included isolation base adds approximately 32 lb.
- Some setup is required: The drive belt, platter, counterweight, anti-skating weight, and cartridge must be installed or adjusted before use.
- Dust cover sold separately: Pro-Ject’s compatible Cover it 1 acrylic cover is optional and not included.
Setup, Compatibility & What’s Included
The RPM 10 Carbon connects to a compatible phono preamplifier through the included Connect it 5P-CC phono cable with RCA plugs. A balanced XLR version of the cable is available separately. The package also includes the Ground it Carbon isolation base, record puck, 7-inch single adapter, power supply, and spirit level.
Before ordering, confirm that your equipment rack can accommodate the 19.7-inch-wide by 15.7-inch-deep Ground it Carbon base and safely support the system’s combined weight.
