Premium Record Cleaning Arm with Patented Magnetic Technology

Record cleaning arms have been around since the early 1970s. Some of them do a good job, and some don't do very much. In many cases, the brush rushes towards the middle of the record as the platter turns, running out of sync with the tonearm. This phenomenon is known as skating. For best performance sweeping dust from a record, the cleaning arm should keep pace with the tonearm, staying just ahead as it cleans.

Pro-Ject solves the skating problem with the Sweep it S2 Record Cleaning Arm. Highly efficient neodymium magnets are key. These magnets are used to stabilize the record brush of the Sweep it S2. Sweep it S2 is constructed in collaboration with audio designer Klaus Mick and uses his patented magnet technology. Extensive theoretical and empirical research have been put into the development of this product.

The magnetic attraction between the neodymium magnet based in the top part of the cylinder and the iron-core core counterweight stabilizes the record brush. Additionally, the distance between the neodymium magnet and the iron-core core counterweight is carefully chosen to ensure a specific magnetic stabilization force. And because the aluminum of the brush arm is paramagnetic (i.e., weakly magnetic), it acts like an additional space between the neodymium magnet and the iron core counterweight. The end result is a record cleaning arm that keeps pace with your tonearm and avoids the dreaded skating effect, sweeping dust off your record just ahead of the tonearm.

Height Adjustable

Sweep it S2 is height adjustable within a range of about 0.4" in order to align it horizontally with the platter. The desired position can be locked with the set screw on the base. A correct horizontal alignment ensures the correct tracking force of about 6 grams.

Flexible Placement

The Sweep it S2 gives you placement options, depending on the type and shape of your turntable. It can be placed in one of two left hand side corners of the turntable. At the optimal position, the brush should align with the turntable spindle (i.e., the center of the platter). Deviations relative to the spindle between 0.6" to 0.8" are well compensated by design of the Sweep it S2. Higher deviations can cause drastic skating effects and should be avoided.
