A Genuine Step Up from a Basic Record Player
The T1 EVO gives you a real hi-fi turntable without a complicated setup: a factory-mounted Ortofon OM 10 cartridge, a heavy glass platter, and a one-piece aluminum tonearm work together right out of the box. Electronic speed control switches between 33 and 45rpm at the touch of a button.
The 8mm blasted-glass platter gives records a flat, stable surface to spin on, while the solid CNC-machined plinth avoids the hollow spaces and unnecessary plastic that can undermine a turntable's foundation.
This standard T1 EVO keeps things simplest: no phono preamp, no Bluetooth, just a dedicated analog source built for a proper component system that already has both of those covered.
Precision Parts, Simply Assembled
An 8.6-Inch One-Piece Aluminum Tonearm
The tonearm's integrated headshell and low-friction bearings create a firm, direct path between the cartridge and the tonearm bearing. The tradeoff is a fixed headshell, so quick cartridge swaps aren't part of the design here.
The included Ortofon OM 10 moving-magnet cartridge, with its elliptical stylus, comes mounted and tracking-force-adjusted at the factory, removing two of the more technical steps most turntables leave up to you.
A Heavy Glass Platter for Stable Playback
Beneath the platter, a belt-driven subplatter and a stainless-steel main bearing shaft in a brass bushing keep rotation smooth and consistent, with speed accuracy of better than one percent at both 33 and 45rpm.
The included felt mat sits directly on the glass, and a removable dust cover keeps everything clean and dust-free between listening sessions when you're not actually spinning a record on it.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Hi-Fi Choice awarded the T1 EVO family its "Recommended" honors. Reviewer Ed Selley wrote that "the Pro-Ject is more refined and tonally realistic" than rivals, calling it "a further evolution of the 'sub-Debut' models... very impressive."
Who Is the T1 EVO Best For?
- You want a dedicated turntable for a component system — this is a source component, built to pair with your own amp and speakers
- You want a cartridge already installed and adjusted — the Ortofon OM 10 arrives factory-mounted, tracking force included
- You want push-button speed change — 33 and 45rpm switch electronically, with no belt to move by hand
- You have, or plan to add, a phono preamp — this standard T1 EVO has no built-in phono stage, Bluetooth, or amplification
- You want Bluetooth or a built-in phono preamp — the T1 EVO BT and T1 EVO Phono both add that, at a step up in price
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect the included Connect it Phono E cable to an amplifier or receiver's MM phono input. If your system only has a standard line-level input, add an external phono preamp between the turntable and amplifier.
Powered speakers work too, as long as a suitable phono preamp sits somewhere in the signal path before the signal reaches them.
Pairs Well With
Where the T1 EVO goes from here:
- Phono preamplifiers — required for this standard model, since none is built in
- Integrated amplifiers — with a phono input suited to moving-magnet cartridges, or paired with a separate phono preamp
- Audio racks — a rigid, level shelf gives the glass platter a stable foundation
- Record cleaning accessories — clean records sound better and protect the stylus
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the T1 EVO have a built-in phono preamp?
It doesn't. Connect it to an MM phono input or use a separate phono preamp. The T1 EVO Phono and T1 EVO BT are different models with that extra electronics built in.
Can I connect it directly to powered speakers?
Only if the speakers have a compatible phono input; otherwise, place an external MM phono preamp between the turntable and the speakers.
Is the cartridge already installed?
Yes. The Ortofon OM 10 cartridge is mounted and adjusted at the factory; you'll still need to complete the basic assembly in the supplied instructions.
Does the tonearm return automatically?
It doesn't. The T1 EVO is fully manual, so you lower the stylus at the start of a record and return the tonearm once it's done.
What comes in the box?
The turntable, pre-mounted Ortofon OM 10 cartridge, glass platter, felt mat, removable dust cover, phono cable, and power supply.
What's the warranty?
A two-year limited manufacturer warranty covers the T1 EVO.
