The Same Vertical Design, Plus Bluetooth and a Phono Stage
The VT-E BT takes the same true vertical turntable design as the standard VT-E and adds two things: a Bluetooth transmitter and a built-in moving-magnet phono preamp, so it connects to almost anything without a separate phono stage.
The same belt-drive system, low-vibration motor, 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm, and factory-mounted Ortofon OM5e cartridge carry over unchanged, so the sound quality that made the standard VT-E worth taking seriously is fully intact here.
This is the right-handed version: Pro-Ject builds the VT-E in separate left- and right-handed versions that aren't interchangeable, so make sure this is the layout that suits how you'll reach the tonearm.
Wireless Output, Wired Simplicity
A Bluetooth Transmitter and a Phono Preamp, Both Built In
The Bluetooth transmitter sends music straight to powered speakers or a Bluetooth receiver with no cable between the turntable and the rest of your system, using an older Bluetooth 3.0 standard that still pairs reliably.
A built-in moving-magnet phono preamp handles the wired side, so the line-level RCA output connects directly to an integrated amp, powered speaker, or any other ordinary analog input, with no separate phono stage required at all.
The Same Vertical Tracking System That Actually Works
A threaded record clamp screws down firmly over the center spindle to hold the whole LP against the platter, while a purpose-built tracking mechanism keeps the stylus seated correctly in the groove despite gravity pulling sideways the whole time.
The Ortofon OM5e cartridge arrives already mounted and aligned, with tracking force and anti-skating set at the factory, so there's nothing at all left to adjust before the very first record drops.
What Reviewers Are Saying
The Audiophile Man's Paul Rigby, reviewing the same vertical design and cartridge this model shares, found its "pedigree enables it to walk all over similar vertical turntable ideas," scoring it 8 out of 10.
Audio Appraisal's Ashley called the shared platform "another Excellent product" that "holds up well against the competition, sounding as good as anything else at this price," calling it "Highly recommended."
Who Is the VT-E BT Best For?
- You want to send records to powered speakers wirelessly — the built-in Bluetooth transmitter handles that without any extra hardware
- Your amp or receiver has no phono input — the built-in MM phono preamp connects straight to any line-level input instead
- You want a turntable that becomes part of the room's design — it stands upright on its own, or mounts flat against a wall
- You prefer simple setup with a factory-adjusted cartridge — the Ortofon OM5e arrives installed and aligned, tracking force included
- You want a turntable that hangs on the wall — a true vertical deck with Bluetooth and a phono stage built in
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect the RCA line output to any standard analog input on an amp, receiver, or powered speaker — the built-in phono preamp handles the rest, no separate phono stage needed.
Pair a Bluetooth speaker or receiver instead for a fully wireless connection, or use the RCA phono output if you'd rather run your own external phono preamp.
Pairs Well With
Where the VT-E BT goes from here:
- Powered speakers — the built-in phono preamp and Bluetooth both work directly with a pair of powered speakers
- Integrated amplifiers — to complete a simple, no-fuss wired system
- Speaker stands — if you'd rather stand it on a shelf than mount it, a stable, level surface still matters
- Record cleaning accessories — clean records sound better and protect the stylus
Frequently Asked Questions
Does playing a record vertically hurt sound quality?
It doesn't. The tracking mechanism and record clamp are purpose-built for vertical operation, and independent reviewers of this same platform found it holds up well against the competition.
Do I need an amplifier with a phono input?
You don't. The built-in phono preamp means any line input works, and Bluetooth means you need no wired connection at all if you have powered speakers.
What's the difference between the right-handed and left-handed versions?
The layout is mirrored so the controls and tonearm fall naturally to one hand. Choose based on which side you'll stand or sit on when you cue a record.
Is the cartridge already installed?
Yes. An Ortofon OM5e moving-magnet cartridge is factory-mounted and adjusted, tracking force included.
Can it be mounted on a wall?
Yes. A wall-mounting bracket is included, though the turntable can also stand upright on a shelf on its own.
What's the warranty?
A two-year limited manufacturer warranty covers the VT-E BT.
