Pro-Ject VT-E BT Vertical Bluetooth Turntable — Right Handed — White — Ortofon OM5
What It Does in Your System
A Turntable That Plays Records Standing Up
The VT-E BT holds the record vertically, like a picture on a wall, and plays it that way. A threaded record clamp screws down over the spindle to hold the LP firmly against the platter, and a special tracking mechanism keeps the stylus in the groove despite gravity working sideways.
The practical result is that it goes places a normal turntable cannot. Set it on a narrow shelf, or mount it on a wall using the low-profile metal bracket in the box. The record becomes something you look at while it plays.
Bluetooth and a Phono Stage Built In
The BT version adds two things to the original VT-E. A Bluetooth transmitter lets you send music straight to powered speakers or a Bluetooth receiver, with no cables between the turntable and the rest of the system.
A built-in moving magnet phono preamp handles the other half. That means you can connect to any ordinary line input — an integrated amp, a powered speaker, an active system — without needing a separate phono stage.
Set Up at the Factory, Ready Out of the Box
The Ortofon OM5e moving magnet cartridge arrives already mounted and aligned. Tracking force and anti-skating are set at the factory, so there is nothing to adjust.
Underneath is a proper Pro-Ject turntable: a low-vibration synchronous motor with DC power supply, a silicone belt, a stainless steel main bearing, an 11.8-inch MDF platter with felt mat, and an 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm.
Is This Right for You?
Worth knowing before you order:
- This is the right-handed version. Pro-Ject builds the VT-E in separate left-handed and right-handed versions, and they are not the same product. Make sure this is the one that suits how you will reach it.
- Speed change is manual. Switching between 33 and 45 rpm means moving the belt by hand. There is no 78 rpm setting.
- The Bluetooth is version 3.0. It works and it pairs, but it is an older standard than current turntables use. If wireless quality is your priority, the wired outputs are the better route — both phono and line level are provided.
Setup & Installation
Fit the platter, sling the silicone belt over it, and connect the power supply. Nothing else needs adjusting — the cartridge is aligned and the tracking force is set.
Choose how you want to listen. Bluetooth pairs to powered speakers or a receiver. The line output goes to any ordinary input using the built-in phono stage. The phono output goes to a dedicated phono input if you would rather use your own. For every record, screw the clamp down over the spindle before you start — the record needs it to stay put.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does playing a record vertically hurt sound quality or wear?
Pro-Ject designed the tracking mechanism and clamp specifically for vertical operation, and reviewers have found it performs as a turntable at this level should. The clamp is what makes it work, so use it every time.
Do I need an amplifier with a phono input?
No. The built-in phono stage means any line input works, and Bluetooth means you need no wired connection at all if you have powered speakers. If you do own a phono stage you prefer, the phono output is there.
What is the difference between the right-handed and left-handed versions?
The layout is mirrored so the controls and tonearm fall naturally to one hand. Choose based on which side you will stand or sit on when you cue a record.
