So the question is simply whether the cartridge on your arm is a Rega Carbon. If it is, this fits. Rega's other cartridges — the Nd series, Ania, Apheta, Aphelion — are separate designs and are not what this was made for.

What the Elliptical Profile Changes

A conical tip meets the groove wall at a point. An elliptical one meets it along a short line, which reaches modulation the rounder tip rides over. Rega's own claim for the swap is “an immediate lift in dynamics and detail.”

Tracking pressure stays at 2 to 3 g, the same window the standard Carbon uses, so the counterweight does not need moving far — though it is still worth checking rather than assuming, since the new assembly need not weigh what the old one did.

How Do You Fit It?

Rega's instructions are worth following exactly. Hold the plastic housing between thumb and forefinger and pull down and towards you to release the old stylus. Insert the Carbon Pro at a slight angle so the hook at the end engages the cartridge, then push up until you hear a click. Reset tracking pressure and you are finished.
