A 2-Meter DIN Cable, So the Power Supply Can Sit Somewhere Else
This is Rega's replacement DIN cable for the Neo PSU and the MK2 TT-PSU, sold each in the 2-meter length. It connects Power DIN to Power DIN, and its purpose is to let the supply sit further from the turntable than the standard cable allows.
A power supply is a transformer, and a transformer produces a magnetic field. A phono cartridge generates its signal by moving a coil in a magnetic field. Distance between the two is free, and the only thing standing in its way is cable length.
Power DIN to Power DIN, at Two Meters
Fit and Materials
The cable is a custom DIN-to-DIN made by Rega for its own supplies, 2 meters long. That is the figure that matters: it is the distance the supply can move, and 2 meters is enough to put it on a different shelf or behind the rack entirely.
Read the compatibility carefully. It works with the Neo PSU and the MK2 TT-PSU and with newer products manufactured from 2011 onward. It is not compatible with the MK1 TT-PSU, which uses a different arrangement.
Who Is This Cable Best For?
- You own a Neo PSU or a MK2 TT-PSU — the two supplies this cable is made for
- Your supply sits next to the turntable — 2 meters is enough to move it well away
- Your rack is tight — the standard cable dictates where the supply goes; this one does not
- You want the original part — a custom Rega DIN cable rather than a generic substitute
- You own a MK1 TT-PSU — Rega states this cable is not compatible with it; check turntable parts and add-ons for the right part
How Do You Fit It?
Switch the supply off at the wall before changing anything. Unplug the existing DIN cable at both ends and fit the new one, Power DIN to Power DIN. Position the supply where you want it, keeping the cable clear of interconnects where you can, then power up and confirm the platter reaches speed.
Pairs Well With
What most owners upgrading a turntable shop next.
- Turntable belts — worth replacing while the platter is off
- Cartridge alignment tools — a change in record height means re-checking geometry
- Stylus force gauges — the other measurement to re-take afterwards
- Turntable mats — the surface the record actually sits on
Frequently Asked Questions
How many do I need?
One. A single cable runs between the supply and the turntable.
Which supplies does it fit?
The Rega Neo PSU and the MK2 TT-PSU, plus newer Rega products made from 2011 onward. Rega states it is not compatible with the MK1 TT-PSU.
Why move the power supply further away?
A supply contains a transformer, and a transformer has a magnetic field around it. A phono cartridge works by moving a coil in a magnetic field, so distance between the two costs nothing and can only help.
