Rega designed the Planar 8 to store as little unwanted energy as possible. Its Tancast 8 foam-core plinth is light, stiff, and reinforced by Rega’s double-brace system. This helps the stylus follow the record groove without extra vibration clouding the sound.

An 18mm triple-layer float-glass platter creates a strong flywheel effect for smooth rotation. A low-mass central bearing assembly and Reference EBLT drive belt help maintain stable speed while letting music sound open, clear, and lively.

RB880 Precision Tonearm

Factory-Fitted Rega Nd7 Cartridge

This version includes a factory-installed Rega Nd7 moving magnet cartridge. The Nd7 uses a Fine Line nude diamond stylus that reaches deep into the record groove to recover small musical details. Its aluminum cantilever provides a quick, controlled response.

The Nd7 is built around a powerful N55 neodymium magnet and Rega’s miniaturized parallel coils. Its rigid, lightweight glass-filled PPS body places less stress on the tonearm bearings.

Simple Setup
