The PL-1 ships with a color-keyed cloth grille designed to help the subwoofer disappear against a wall. This is the other option. The premium wood grille gives the ultra-slim Planar cabinet a warmer, furniture-inspired character — closer to a mid-century wall panel than a piece of audio equipment.

If your PL-1 is going somewhere visible, this is the accessory that makes it a deliberate part of the room rather than something you'd rather not notice.

Purely an Appearance Upgrade

Worth being straightforward about this: the wood grille is engineered to preserve the PL-1's intended output and musical character, not to improve it. It's designed around the specific acoustic requirements of the Planar cabinet so that swapping it in doesn't change what you hear.

What it does do is protect the front-mounted active drivers, same as the cloth grille it replaces. Buy it for how it looks — that's the reason it exists.

Every One Is Slightly Different

This grille fits the Planar PL-1 only. It's cut to the PL-1's proportions and attachment points, so it won't fit the larger PL-2. The subwoofer is not included.
