ROHM DAC and Proven Analog Circuit

It is the first Shanling model with a ROHM DAC, the BD34352. OPA1612 op-amps handle current-to-voltage conversion and low-pass filtering, and a MUSES8920 drives the outputs. Shanling tuned it for transparency, a wide soundstage and a neutral presentation.

4th-Generation CD Servo System

Shanling's latest servo system is built for steady, reliable disc reading. Japanese KDS crystal oscillators at 90MHz and 98MHz work with Shanling's 4th-generation FPGA algorithm. A 43VA R30 transformer supplies stable power.

USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Playback

The front USB port plays drives up to 2TB, with files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512. Wi-Fi adds DLNA and AirPlay, and Bluetooth 5.0 supports LDAC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC. Shanling's Eddict Player app browses and controls USB drive playback.

Analog outputs are balanced XLR and single-ended RCA. Line-Out mode feeds an integrated amplifier, while Pre-Out mode adds volume control for a power amplifier or powered speakers. Coaxial and optical outputs feed an external DAC.

Connect a computer to the rear USB port to use it as a DAC, up to PCM 384kHz/32-bit and DSD256. DSD over USB DAC works only in Line-Out mode. USB drive playback reaches DSD512 in Line-Out mode and DSD256 in Pre-Out mode.

What it will not do: Shanling lists no headphone output, so headphone listeners will need a separate headphone amplifier. Shanling does not list SACD playback.
