A Hybrid Amplifier — The Best of Both Worlds
An integrated amplifier is the heart of a stereo system. It takes the signal from your sources — turntable, CD player, streamer, even your phone — and boosts it so your speakers can fill the room. One box holds the preamp and power amp, so setup stays simple.
The Vincent Audio SV-237MKII is a hybrid: vacuum tubes in the preamp stage, solid-state transistors in the power amp stage. Tubes give a warm, natural sound; transistors add raw power and reliability — smooth tube character backed by real muscle.
Engineer Frank Blöhbaum designed the circuit, with one 12AX7 tube and two 6N1P-EV tubes up front. Four output transistors deliver 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 250 into 4 ohms — enough for almost any speaker, including floorstanders, planars, and electrostatics.
The first 10 watts run in pure Class A mode, widely seen as the best-sounding design, since the output stays "on" at all times, avoiding crossover distortion. Everyday listening rarely tops 10 watts, so you'll hear Class A sound most of the time.
Modern Features in a Classic Design
The MKII brings the SV-237 up to date with built-in Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless streaming from your phone, tablet, or computer.
For digital sources, an optical (Toslink) and a coaxial input each feed an upgraded Burr Brown PCM 5102 DAC — the chip that turns digital music into analog sound — supporting high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz.
The front panel keeps classic bass and treble tone controls, a bypass switch for an uncolored signal, and a loudness button so quiet listening doesn't sound thin.
What Reviewers Are Saying
The SV-237MKII has won praise across the hi-fi press. Craig Chase of Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity called it "a top-tier performer at a very competitive price." Noel Keywood of Hi-Fi World measured very low distortion and praised its "spacious, natural sound." The original SV-237 also won a Reference Award from Germany's i-fidelity.net.
Who Is This Amplifier Best For?
- You want tube warmth and solid-state power in one component — no separate preamp and power amp to manage.
- You're building a two-channel system and want one hub for every source.
- Your speakers need real power — floorstanders, planars, or electrostatics that demand high current.
- You want a built-in DAC and Bluetooth to stream without extra gear.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Three stereo RCA inputs handle a CD player, a phono preamp, and one more source — there's no built-in phono stage, so vinyl fans need a separate phono preamp (we carry affordable Vincent Audio options).
The optical and coaxial inputs feed the built-in DAC for a TV, game console, or CD transport, and Bluetooth 5.0 covers wireless streaming.
Four pairs of speaker posts support bi-wiring or A/B switching, plus a preamp output, a record output, a headphone jack, two 12-volt triggers, and a full-function remote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it have a built-in phono stage?
No — you'll need a separate phono preamp for your turntable. Call 800-942-0220 for a recommendation.
Can it drive large or power-hungry speakers?
Yes — 150 watts into 8 ohms and 250 into 4 ohms handles floorstanders, planars, and electrostatics.
How do I stream music wirelessly?
Select the Bluetooth input, pair your device, and play from any music app.
Can I connect a subwoofer?
Yes, through the rear-panel preamp output, so a powered sub can add bass.
How long do the tubes last?
Typically thousands of hours. They carry a 90-day warranty; the amp carries 2 years.
What else do I need to get started?
Just speakers and speaker cables — Bluetooth is built in.
