'Little Box' Takes Streaming to Another Level
Pro-Ject's USB Box S+ is a high-performance USB DAC that's designed for streaming audiophile-quality audio from your computer. This little 'Box' takes USB streaming to another level!
USB Box S+ uses advanced features and technologies in USB asynchronous data transfer based on a high-end XMOS chipset. Inside is a PCM5102A DAC from Burr-Brown, which is able to deliver excellent signal-to-noise ratio, superior dynamic range, low distortion, and very low output impedance.

32-bit Capability – Up to 384 kHz Upsampling
Pro-Ject's USB Box S+ upsamples data to 352.8kHz or 384 kHz (44.1 kHz, 88.2k Hz, and 176.4 kHz are upsampled on 352.8 kHz. 48 kHz, 96 kHz, and 192 kHz are upsampled on 384 kHz).
Thanks to the 32-bit/384 kHz hi-res capability, all computers using Windows, Apple, or Linux operating systems can be used as a real HD audio source. Note that Windows OS systems are usually limited to 24-bit/192 kHz, so you will need proper playback software (such as Foobar 2000 or JRiver Mediacenter) and a dedicated Pro-Ject Box ASIO driver to play hi-res audio.
Low Jitter and Very Low Noise
Compared to conventional 24 bit/96 kHz DAC technology, the USB Box S+ offers the lowest possible jitter and up to 20 dB lower noise levels. USB Box S+ provides 2.1V rms, and the elimination of internal blocking capacitors contributes to an outstanding sound quality.
Most USB DACs use connected computers as their power source. Although this one-cable solution seems to be practical, it a poor approach from an audiophile point of view. All electrical noises from computer power supply are imported into the audio chain.

Furthermore, for even better performance you can upgrade the included power supply by replacing it with an optional linear power source (available separately), such as the Pro-Ject Audio Systems Power Boxes.

Contributing to the superior sound quality of the USB Box S+ is ultra-linear circuitry. Two selectable filters let you tailor the sound to your liking. An extremely low impedance output stage offers exceptional analog audio performance and connectivity with a wide range of AV gear using the gold-plated line-level RCA jacks, avoiding any negative interference with cables or preamps.
