This version of Planar 6 comes with your choice of Rega's new breakthrough MM phono cartridge, the Nd5 with elliptical diamond stylus or the Nd7 with fine line diamond stylus. These factory-fitted packages are offered at a discounted rate compared to purchasing the Planar 6 turntable and Nd5 or Nd7 cartridge separately.
You can also order the Planar 6 without a phono cartridge and use one of your own, if you prefer.

Exclusive Ultra-Lightweight Tan-Cast 8 Plinth
The Planar 6 is built around the huge success of the RP8 and RP10 turntables. It is the first new Rega turntable to be constructed with an ultra-lightweight Tan-Cast 8 polyurethane foam core plinth (a material developed for the aerospace industry). This material is sandwiched between a new HPL (high pressure laminate). HPL is exceptionally thin while extremely rigid – and it is presented in a stunning Polaris matt grey finished with high gloss polymer black edge trim.
Rega’s double brace technology uses an integral custom matched aluminum tonearm and hub pillars to ensure maximum rigidity and accuracy.
High-Stability Neo PSU with Electronic Speed Change
The Neo PSU uses the RP10 DSP (digital signal processing) generator built upon a high stability crystal. The DSP generator will divide the accurate signal from the crystal to the exact frequency required to turn the platter at the selected speed. The DSP generator will also produce a near perfect sinusoidal waveform to drive the motor. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier, generates a 24-volt AC balanced signal of less than 0.15% distortion, which is completely unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This drives the turntables anti-vibration circuit, which is situated beneath the turntable.
Breakthrough RB330 Tonearm
Designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology, the new RB330 is the culmination of more than 35 years of Rega tonearm design experience. A brand new bearing housing joins forces with Rega's latest tonearm tube, which was designed using intelligent redistribution of mass, ensuring that this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction-free movement from the new high precision bearing assemblies will gather more information from your vinyl than ever before.
Features aplenty include a new bias assembly, a redesigned stiffer vertical bearing housing, an integrated arm clip, and an improved spring housing with easier to read numbers. The arm also boasts a new Rega-made low capacitance phono cable with Neutrik plugs, improved lower friction precision horizontal and vertical bearings, and a newly designed 100g (3.5 oz.) milled steel balance weight.

The Planar 6 also benefits from a single piece, machined aluminum sub-platter, a new 24-volt motor hand tuned and matched to its own NEO power supply, and a custom drive pulley fitted with our upgrade drive belt as standard. Option 1: Pre-installed Nd5 Phono Cartridge
Included with this version of the Planar 6 is your choice of Rega's all new Nd5 or Nd5 moving magnet cartridge. Their revolutionary design was developed over 10 years of rigorous R&D and critical listening. They promise to deliver 'next level' performance from Moving Magnet (MM) technology.
Although Neodymium (Nd) magnets are used in Moving Coil designs, the Nd is the first Moving Magnet cartridge series to utilize a Neodymium (Nd) N55 magnet. This is the world's most powerful commercially available magnet and is a crucial component that makes this unique design possible by delivering extra power compared to standard bar magnet designs.
Each Nd5 is meticulously handmade by Rega's highly skilled technicians. The stylus profile is a perfect elliptical nude diamond. This is a true ellipse created by an elliptical grinding process made from polycrystalline manmade diamond. The design uses brand new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve accurate channel balance.
Option 2: Pre-installed Nd7 Phono Cartridge
You can also order the Planar 6 with Rega's new, handmade Nd7 phono cartridge pre-installed. It uses Rega's most advanced fine-line nude diamond profile for the ultimate in detail retrieval. This is the same profile used on Rega's high end MC models, the Apheta 3 and Aphelion 2.
This profile has an exceptionally small radii Monocrystalline manmade diamond with the minor radius being just 3µm (microns) as viewed from the top and 30µm in the vertical when viewed from the front. This profile allows immediate adjustment to very small changes in the vinyl due to the small contact area of the diamond which results in exceptional levels of detail being retrieved. The design uses brand new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve accurate channel balance.
