What You Need to Know
What Is the A8 APEX?
The Advance Paris A8 APEX is the entry-level model in the APEX series — Advance Paris’s 30th Anniversary premium line, launched in late 2025, that sits above the Classic series. It uses the same hybrid tube/solid-state topology as the Classic Line (ECC81/12AT7 vacuum tubes in the preamplifier stage, Class A/B solid-state power amplification), but with upgraded components throughout: lower-noise power supplies, ESS Technology voltage regulators, and premium-grade resistors and capacitors selected specifically for the APEX line.
According to Cédric Leon, Advance Paris’s Product Director, the APEX range takes “everything our customers love about the Classic range — our best-selling products worldwide — and elevated it with premium components and modern connectivity, creating this new range that honors our legacy while setting a new standard for ourselves.”
The A8 APEX delivers 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms (110 watts into 4 ohms) — the same power rating as the X-i75 integrated amplifier, but now wrapped in the APEX-grade component selection and 30th Anniversary black finish with high-contrast white VU meters. It is the most accessible entry into the APEX line.
What the APEX Upgrades Mean
The APEX series differs from the Classic series in several ways. The power supply uses ESS Technology voltage regulators for lower noise and more stable voltage delivery to the audio circuits. Premium resistors and capacitors are specified throughout. The ESS Sabre 9018 DAC handles digital input conversion. HDMI eARC — an enhanced version of HDMI ARC that supports higher-bandwidth audio formats — is included, replacing the standard HDMI ARC of the Classic series. The finish is exclusive black with white VU meters (rather than the Classic series’s blue-lit meters), creating a visually distinctive look that marks the APEX as a premium tier product.
Connectivity
Eight analog inputs: five RCA (including a MM phono input with three capacitance settings), one slightly separated phono input on the right side of the rear panel, and two balanced XLR line inputs. Eight digital inputs: three optical, three coaxial, one USB, and one AES/EBU (professional balanced digital). HDMI eARC for television integration. Two speaker zones (A and B). Pre-out/amp-in connections. Subwoofer output. 12V trigger in/out. 110–220V voltage selector.
Note: The A8 APEX does not include a built-in Bluetooth module, but the APEX series introduces a new optional Bluetooth module (A-BTC) with aptX AD-LL codec support. This is different from the X-FTB01/02 modules used with the Classic series — verify current module availability and compatibility with your Audio Advisor contact.
Who Is This Best For?
You love the A10 or X-i75 Classic but want the refinement of APEX-grade components and the premium black/white APEX aesthetic.
You want the entry point into the APEX line to build an APEX system with the ACD APEX CD player.
You want HDMI eARC for clean, high-quality TV audio integration with your stereo system.
You drive efficient speakers (bookshelf or high-sensitivity floorstanders) that work well with 75 watts per channel.
How Does It Connect?
Connect speakers to the A or B binding posts (or both). Connect a television via HDMI eARC. Connect a turntable to the MM phono input. Connect digital sources via optical, coaxial, USB, or AES/EBU. Connect a computer via USB-B for high-resolution audio. A remote control is included and is compatible with the ACD APEX CD player for unified system control.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the A8 APEX differ from the A10 Classic?
Power output is the same (75W/8Ω, 110W/4Ω), and both use ECC81/12AT7 tube preamplification. The A8 APEX upgrades the power supply with ESS Technology voltage regulators and premium-grade components throughout. The APEX line also introduces HDMI eARC (an enhanced version of HDMI ARC), changes the Bluetooth module ecosystem (A-BTC vs. X-FTB series), and features the exclusive black/white 30th Anniversary finish. The APEX represents a refinement of the Classic formula, not a fundamental redesign.
What is HDMI eARC, and how does it differ from HDMI ARC?
Both HDMI ARC and eARC allow your television to send audio to your amplifier over an HDMI cable. eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) supports higher bandwidth than standard ARC, enabling uncompressed high-quality audio formats rather than compressed PCM or Dolby Digital. For most typical TV listening, both work well — but eARC provides headroom for higher-quality TV audio sources.
How does the A8 APEX compare to the A10 and A12 APEX?
All three share the APEX platform, ECC81/12AT7 tube preamp, ESS voltage regulators, and premium component selection. Power differentiates them: A8 APEX is 75W/8Ω, A10 APEX is 130W/8Ω, and A12 APEX is 190W/8Ω with dual-mono architecture and the flagship ESS Sabre 9039 DAC. Choose based on the power requirements of your speakers and your room size.
What else do I need to get started?
Speakers and speaker cables are required — everything else is built in (amplification, DAC, phono stage, HDMI eARC). Bluetooth requires the optional A-BTC module. Give us a call at 800-942-0220 for help matching speakers to the A8 APEX’s 75W output.
