What You Need to Know
What Is the X-CD7?
The Advance Paris X-CD7 is a CD player for your hi-fi system. If you have a CD collection, this is the kind of player that does it justice.
It plays standard audio CDs, CD-R discs, and MP3 CDs. It also plays MP3 files from a USB flash drive through a port on the front panel. That’s a nice extra for quick, casual listening.
Inside, a Wolfson WM8761 DAC turns the digital data from your disc into an analog audio signal. A DAC is the part that converts digital music into sound your amp can use. The X-CD7 also has digital outputs, so you can skip its built-in DAC and send the raw digital signal to your own external DAC instead.
What Makes It Different from a Cheap CD Player?
One big thing: the power supply. Advance Paris separates the power supply from the DAC board inside the player. Why does that matter? Digital circuits create electrical noise. When that noise reaches the analog section, it can muddy the sound. Keeping them apart, according to Advance Paris, means cleaner power to every part of the player — and cleaner sound as a result.
The other thing is the outputs. Most basic CD players have one pair of RCA outputs and that’s it. The X-CD7 gives you four output options, which we’ll cover next.
Four Ways to Connect
Balanced XLR analog output. XLR is a type of connection often used in pro audio and higher-end hi-fi gear. It carries the signal on three wires instead of two, which helps reject noise — especially over longer cable runs. If your amp has XLR inputs, this is the best way to connect.
Unbalanced RCA analog output. This is the standard connection most amps use. It works with everything. If your amp doesn’t have XLR inputs, use the RCA output.
Optical Toslink digital output. This sends the raw digital signal to an external DAC or a digital input on your amp. It uses a fiber-optic cable.
Coaxial RCA digital output. This does the same job as the optical output but uses a coaxial cable instead. Some gear works better with one type than the other. Having both gives you options.
According to World Wide Stereo, the X-CD7 achieves THD as low as 0.006% via XLR and a signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB. Those are solid numbers for a player in this price range.
Who Is This Best For?
You have a CD collection and want to play it on quality gear without spending a fortune.
You own an amp or preamp with balanced XLR inputs and want to take full advantage of them.
You want a player that can also work as a digital transport — sending the signal to your own external DAC via optical or coaxial output.
You like the Advance Paris Classic Line look and want a CD player that matches the X-i75, X-P700, or A10 Classic.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Pick the output that fits your amp. If your amp has XLR inputs, use the balanced XLR cables for the best connection. If not, use RCA cables. Both work at the same time.
If you have an external DAC you prefer, use the optical or coaxial digital output to send the raw digital signal there instead. This bypasses the X-CD7’s built-in DAC.
The USB-A port on the front panel plays MP3 files from a flash drive. Just plug in and play.
A remote control is included. The unit works on 115V or 230V power. Standby power is under 0.5W.

Features & Specifications
Wolfson WM8761 DAC — Clean, Accurate Conversion
The Wolfson WM8761 is a 24-bit/192kHz DAC that turns digital data from your CD into analog sound. According to World Wide Stereo, it achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB and THD as low as 0.006% via the XLR output. Those are strong numbers at this price.
Balanced XLR and Unbalanced RCA Analog Outputs
Both output types are included. XLR (balanced) carries the signal on three wires, which helps reject noise — especially over longer cable runs. RCA (unbalanced) works with any amp. Both run at the same time.
Digital Outputs for Your Own DAC
Optical Toslink and coaxial RCA digital outputs let you use the X-CD7 as a transport. This sends the raw digital signal to an external DAC, bypassing the built-in Wolfson chip. A clear upgrade path as your system grows.
Separated Power Supply
Advance Paris keeps the power supply on its own board, away from the DAC and analog circuits. According to the manufacturer, this reduces electrical noise and gives cleaner power to the parts that matter most for sound quality.
Front-Panel USB-A for MP3 Playback
Plug in a USB flash drive and play MP3 files directly. No disc needed. Handy for casual listening or background music.
Plays CDs, CD-Rs, and MP3 CDs with Gapless Playback
The X-CD7 handles standard audio CDs, recordable CD-R discs, and MP3 CDs. Gapless playback is supported, so albums that flow from one track to the next play without gaps.
Classic Line Design
The X-CD7 shares the same look as the rest of the Advance Paris Classic Line — deep black glass front panel with aluminum accents. It matches the X-i75 integrated amp, X-P700 preamp, and A10 Classic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the X-CD7 play SACDs or Blu-ray audio discs?
No. The X-CD7 plays standard audio CDs, CD-R discs, and MP3 CDs. It does not support SACD, DVD-Audio, or Blu-ray. If you need SACD playback, call us at 800-942-0220 and we’ll help you find the right player.
What is the difference between the X-CD7 and the X-CD9?
The X-CD9 is the step-up model. According to Advance Paris, the X-CD9 adds a tube preamp stage on its analog output. This gives the sound a warmer, more tube-flavored character. The X-CD7 uses a solid-state analog output. Both share the same output types: XLR, RCA, optical, and coaxial.
Can I use the X-CD7 as a transport with my own DAC?
Yes. The optical and coaxial digital outputs send the raw digital signal to any external DAC. This bypasses the X-CD7’s built-in Wolfson DAC. Use this if you have a DAC you like better, or if you upgrade your DAC later.
Should I use the XLR or RCA output?
If your amp has XLR inputs, use XLR. It carries the signal in a way that rejects more noise, especially over longer cables. If your amp only has RCA inputs, use RCA — it sounds great too. Both outputs work at the same time.
What else do I need?
An amplifier or preamp with an open RCA or XLR input. And the right cables to connect them (not included). The remote control and power cable come in the box. Call us at 800-942-0220 if you need help choosing cables or checking that the X-CD7 fits your system.
