What You Need to Know
Why Speaker Stands Matter
If you own a pair of standmount speakers (also called bookshelf speakers), the stands you place them on have a real impact on how they sound. A proper speaker stand does three important things: it positions the tweeter at ear level for the most accurate stereo imaging, it provides a rigid and stable platform that prevents the speaker cabinet from rocking or vibrating, and it decouples the speaker from the floor so that bass energy doesn’t transfer into the room structure and muddy up the sound.
Generic speaker stands can do an adequate job, but a stand that’s specifically designed for a particular speaker — matched in dimensions, height, and damping characteristics — will always outperform a one-size-fits-all solution. That’s exactly what the Mission 770 stand is.
Designed by the Same Engineer Who Designed the Speaker
The Mission 770 stand was custom-designed in conjunction with Peter Comeau, Mission’s Director of Acoustic Design — the same person who engineered the new Mission 770 loudspeaker itself. According to Mission, every aspect of the stand was considered to create the ideal presentation for the 770 speaker. The stand height positions the 770’s tweeter at the correct listening height for a seated listener, and the 300mm × 300mm top plate matches the speaker’s footprint precisely.
The stands are handmade in England using robust British steel, reinforcing the “Made in UK” commitment that defines the new Mission 770 line. The 770 speakers themselves are manufactured in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and the stands maintain that same standard of British craftsmanship.
Construction and Materials
The stand uses an open-frame design built primarily from high carbon steel. The upright columns are internally damped to control resonances — meaning they won’t ring or vibrate when bass energy passes through them. The base frame uses interlocked high carbon steel tubing for exceptional rigidity, and the top plate is also high carbon steel.
The feet use hardened stainless steel spikes that can be adjusted for leveling on uneven floors. These spikes serve an important acoustic purpose: they create a minimal contact point between the stand and the floor, reducing the transfer of vibration. Floor protectors are included to protect hardwood or tile surfaces from the spikes.
What Hi-Fi?, in their review of the Mission 770 speakers, noted that the stands feel solid once assembled and fit the speakers perfectly, positioning the tweeter at an ideal height for their listening position.
Cable Management
The stands include built-in cable management, so your speaker cables can be routed neatly through or along the stand rather than dangling visibly. This keeps your setup looking clean and organized — a small but appreciated detail in a well-designed listening room.
Who Are These Stands For?
You own (or are purchasing) the new Mission 770 loudspeakers and want the stands specifically designed for them.
You purchased a used pair of Mission 770 speakers that didn’t include the original stands and need a proper replacement.
You own medium-sized standmount speakers that fit a 300mm × 300mm (approximately 12” × 12”) top plate and want a well-built, properly damped British steel stand at the right height.
You value build quality and want stands that match the “Made in England” craftsmanship of your speakers.
Assembly and Setup
The Mission 770 stands arrive flat-packed and require assembly. The process is straightforward — you’ll attach the base frame, column, and top plate. Once assembled, the stands are solid and stable. Position them so the speakers’ tweeters are roughly at ear level when you’re seated in your listening position. Mission recommends placing the 770 speakers 6.5 to 8 feet apart, forming an equilateral triangle with your seated position, and angling them 15 to 40 degrees inward (“toe-in”) to create the best stereo image. Keep the speakers at least 2 inches from the rear wall and about 2.5 feet from side walls.

What Reviewers Say About the Stands
While the Mission 770 stands don’t receive standalone reviews (they’re typically evaluated as part of the complete 770 speaker system), every major review of the Mission 770 speakers comments on the included stands:
What Hi-Fi?
What Hi-Fi? noted that the 770 stands use a frame design made mostly of high carbon steel, with the uprights internally damped to control resonances. They reported that once assembled, the supports feel solid and fit the speakers perfectly, positioning the tweeter at an ideal listening height.
SoundStage! Hi-Fi — Doug Schneider
SoundStage! Hi-Fi noted that the supplied matte-black stand adds approximately 17 inches of height including floor spikes, complementing the speaker’s 23.5-inch cabinet to achieve proper listening position.

Features & Specifications
Build & Materials
High Carbon Steel Construction — The columns, top plate, and base frame are all built from high carbon steel, which is denser and more rigid than standard mild steel. This rigidity means the stand doesn’t flex or vibrate when your speakers are producing bass-heavy music, so the sound stays clean and controlled.
Internally Damped Columns — The upright columns include internal damping material to prevent them from ringing or resonating. Without damping, a hollow steel column can act like a tuning fork, adding unwanted coloration to the sound. The damping absorbs that energy before it becomes audible.
Interlocked Steel Tube Base Frame — The base uses interlocked high carbon steel tubing for maximum stability. This design resists tipping and provides a wide, secure footprint on your floor.
Isolation & Stability
Hardened Stainless Steel Spikes — Adjustable spike feet create minimal contact with the floor, reducing the transfer of vibration between the speaker/stand and the room. They also allow you to level the stands on uneven surfaces. Floor protectors are included for hardwood, tile, or laminate floors.
Design & Fit
Custom-Matched to the Mission 770 — The 300mm × 300mm top plate matches the Mission 770’s cabinet footprint exactly. The stand height positions the 770’s tweeter at the optimal seated listening height.
Built-In Cable Management — Route your speaker cables neatly through the stand for a clean, organized installation.
Handmade in England — Manufactured to match the “Made in UK” standard of the Mission 770 speakers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are speakers included with these stands?
No. This listing is for the Mission 770 speaker stands only, sold as a pair. The Mission 770 loudspeakers are sold separately. If you’re looking for the complete speaker-and-stand package, check out the Mission 770 Speakers with Stands.
Will these stands work with speakers other than the Mission 770?
The stands were specifically designed for the Mission 770, but they can work with other medium-sized standmount speakers that fit the 300mm × 300mm (approximately 12” × 12”) top plate. The stand height of 445mm (about 17.5” on spikes) is optimized for the 770’s driver layout, so results with other speakers will depend on their height and tweeter position. If you’re unsure whether these stands would work for your speakers, give us a call at 800-942-0220.
Do the stands come assembled?
No, the stands arrive flat-packed and require assembly. The process is straightforward with the included hardware. Once assembled, they’re very solid and stable.
Will the spike feet damage my hardwood floors?
Floor protectors are included in the box to place under the spike feet on hardwood, tile, laminate, or other hard-surface floors. On carpeted floors, you can use the spikes directly — they’ll penetrate the carpet and grip the subfloor underneath, which actually improves stability and sound quality.
Why do I need dedicated stands instead of placing the speakers on a shelf or table?
A shelf or table will transfer vibration from the speaker back into the furniture and the room, which can muddy the bass and reduce clarity. A dedicated speaker stand is designed to be rigid, heavy, and decoupled from the floor (via spikes), so the speaker can perform at its best. The Mission 770 stands also position the tweeter at the correct height for a seated listener, which is critical for accurate stereo imaging. Reviewers at What Hi-Fi? noted that these stands are an essential part of the 770’s performance.
How heavy are the stands?
Each stand weighs 8.0 kg (about 17.6 lbs). That’s intentional — a heavier stand is more rigid and stable, which means less vibration and cleaner sound. Combined with the Mission 770 speaker (19.2 kg each), the total weight per side is substantial, providing excellent stability.
Do the stands include cable management?
Yes. The stands have built-in cable management that lets you route speaker cables neatly through the stand structure, keeping your setup looking clean and organized.
