What You Need to Know
What Is the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2?
The Master Edition Gen 2 is a network streamer and DAC — it connects to your home network and streams music from Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and more, while converting the digital audio into analog sound your amp can use.
It's built on the same foundation as the standard DMP-A6 Gen 2 ($859). Same chassis, same DAC chips, same streaming platform, same linear power supply. But inside, EverSolo made targeted upgrades that take the performance further.
At $1,399, it sits between the standard Gen 2 and the DMP-A8. It's the right choice when you want the compact, practical A6 form factor but with better clocks and a more refined output stage.
What's Different in the Master Edition?
Four things set the Master Edition apart from the standard Gen 2.
Accusilicon femtosecond clocks. The standard Gen 2 uses good dual clocks. The Master Edition upgrades to Accusilicon femtosecond-grade oscillators — one for 44.1kHz-family audio, one for 48kHz. These are exceptionally precise for this price range. Lower jitter means sharper imaging, cleaner detail, and a more stable, controlled sound.
OPA1612 op-amps. The standard Gen 2 uses Texas Instruments OPA1642. The Master Edition steps up to the OPA1612. The OPA1612 has a noise floor of just 1.1nV/√Hz and distortion of only 0.000015% at 1kHz. These are the same op-amps used in EverSolo's more expensive DMP-A8. The result is a quieter, more transparent output stage.
Retina-level high-resolution display. The Master Edition's 6-inch touchscreen is upgraded for sharper clarity and better color accuracy compared to the standard Gen 2.
RGB gradient light ring. The volume knob on the Master Edition has a customizable RGB LED ring that glows in any color you choose — or can be switched off entirely. It's a visual flourish that gives the unit its own distinct personality. A gold logo (vs. silver on the standard Gen 2) marks it out at a glance.
The DAC — Dual ESS ES9038Q2M, One Per Channel
Two ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chips handle conversion — one dedicated to the left channel, one to the right. Running them independently cuts interference between channels and produces better stereo separation.
The circuit is fully balanced from chip to output. The Master Edition's XLR outputs measure 5.2V with dynamic range above 128dB and THD+N of just 0.000087% (–121dB). These are very strong numbers for a unit at this price.
What Are Reviewers Saying?
StereoNET reviewer Eric Teh gave the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 their Applause Award after a full test. He praised its ability to handle complex, busy recordings — keeping instruments distinct and the soundstage convincing. His conclusion: "a wallet-friendly streamer that ticks all the right boxes." He found it "surprisingly enjoyable" through its own DAC, and "even better through a good external DAC."
Audio Science Review member EJR reviewed the Master Edition Gen 2 and praised its sonic character in detail. They noted it delivers "remarkably high and incisive transients" without overdoing them — heard "briefly, where you expect them." The bass was described as "surprisingly resonant, rounded and deep." Their overall impression: a unit "designed and built with good taste by people who really know and care about music."
Steve Huff — who has tested streamers costing $75,000 — named the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 his third-favorite streamer regardless of price, behind only the Nagra Streamer and HiFi Rose RS130 (both over $5,000). He called EverSolo's app "the best streaming app made for any streamer" and praised the sound as "remarkable when we consider the cost of this all-in-one wonder box."
Who Is This Best For?
You want the DMP-A6 Gen 2 platform but with better clocks and a more refined sound.
You care about visual presentation. The RGB gradient light ring and gold logo make the Master Edition stand out on a shelf or rack.
You want Roon Ready in a compact unit under $1,500.
You want to use it as a pure streaming transport into a separate DAC. The digital outputs and precise Accusilicon clocks make it a very capable front-end.
You want the DMP-A8's output stage quality in a smaller, less expensive unit — the OPA1612 op-amps are the same ones used in the A8.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Network inputs: Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz + 5GHz), and Bluetooth 5.0 (SBC/AAC). Roon Ready, Tidal Connect, and DLNA are all supported.
Digital inputs: USB-B (up to DSD512/PCM 768kHz), coaxial, optical (Toslink), and HDMI ARC. Each input is electrically isolated — noise from your source device stays out of the path the sound takes.
Digital outputs: USB-A, coaxial, optical, and HDMI (for multichannel audio to a receiver or TV, including DSD64 native and up to 5.1-channel PCM).
Analog outputs: XLR balanced (5.2V) and RCA single-ended (2.6V). Both available simultaneously. No analog inputs — digital sources only. If you need analog inputs for a turntable or other analog source, take a look at the DMP-A8.
Trigger output and Wake-on-LAN are also included, as on the standard Gen 2.

What the Pros Are Saying
StereoNET's Eric Teh gave the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 their Applause Award after testing it at length. He found it handled busy, complex recordings impressively — keeping distinct separation between instruments and voices. His verdict: it "ticks all the right boxes," sounds great through its own DAC, and sounds even better through a good external DAC. He rated it a compelling value compared to EverSolo's more expensive siblings.
EJR's detailed listening impressions on Audio Science Review highlighted the Master Edition Gen 2's refined tonal balance — "remarkably high and incisive transients" paired with "surprisingly resonant, rounded and deep bass." The midrange was singled out as "the real star of the show" — detailed and musical. Their conclusion: a unit "designed and built with good taste by people who really know and care about music."
Steve Huff — who regularly tests gear costing tens of thousands of dollars — placed the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 among his three favorite streamers at any price. He praised the EverSolo app as the best he'd used on any streamer, and called the overall package "remarkable when we consider the cost." He noted the sound quality gets "very close" to streamers costing $5,000 or more when used with a good external DAC.

Features & Specifications
Accusilicon Femtosecond Clocks — Master Edition Exclusive
The Master Edition uses two Accusilicon femtosecond-grade oscillators — one tuned for 44.1kHz audio (CDs and most streaming), one for 48kHz audio (video and broadcast content). Accusilicon clocks are among the most precise available at any price. Lower jitter means tighter imaging and cleaner, more focused sound.
The standard Gen 2 uses good dual clocks. The Master Edition's Accusilicon clocks are a meaningful step up — and they're rare to find at this price point in any streamer.
OPA1612 Op-Amps — Master Edition Exclusive
The output stage uses Texas Instruments OPA1612 op-amps. This is the same op-amp used in EverSolo's DMP-A8. The OPA1612 has a noise floor of just 1.1nV/√Hz and distortion of 0.000015% at 1kHz. It is quieter and more transparent than the OPA1642 used in the standard Gen 2.
This upgrade is most noticeable in the midrange — more detail, less noise, and a cleaner result at all volume levels.
Retina-Level Touchscreen — Master Edition Exclusive
The Master Edition's 6-inch display is described by EverSolo as retina-level — sharper and more accurate in color than the standard Gen 2 screen. It shows album art, track info, VU meters, and spectrums. Response is fast and smooth, like a current smartphone.
RGB Gradient Light Ring — Master Edition Exclusive
The volume knob is surrounded by a customizable RGB LED ring. You can set it to any color, cycle through gradients, or switch it off. It's a visual upgrade that gives the unit a distinct presence. A gold logo on the front panel (vs. silver on the standard Gen 2) also sets it apart at a glance.
Dual ESS ES9038Q2M DACs — One Per Channel
Two ESS ES9038Q2M chips handle conversion — one per stereo channel — for better separation and a lower noise floor. The circuit is fully balanced from chip to output. XLR outputs measure 5.2V with dynamic range above 128dB and distortion of just 0.000087%.
Linear Power Supply — Below 40µV Noise
Both the standard Gen 2 and Master Edition share the same ultra-low-noise linear power supply. Noise is kept below 40µV. This is a major upgrade over the original DMP-A6, which used a switching supply — and it's part of why both Gen 2 models sound noticeably cleaner than their predecessors.
Streaming — Roon Ready, Plus Every Major Service
The Master Edition is officially Roon Ready. It also supports Tidal Connect, DLNA, and UPnP. Built-in apps include Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, Apple Music, Radio Paradise, HighResAudio, TuneIn, IDAGIO, SoundCloud, Calm Radio, and Presto Music.
EverSolo's EOS audio engine bypasses Android's audio limits. It delivers music at the original sampling rate and resolution from supported apps — not a downsampled version.
Also Available in Black
The Master Edition Gen 2 is one of the few EverSolo streamers offered in two finishes. If you prefer silver to match your existing gear, the silver version is listed separately on our site. Give us a call at 800-942-0220 and we can help you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does "Master Edition" mean — what am I paying extra for?
Four specific upgrades over the standard Gen 2: Accusilicon femtosecond clocks (more precise timing, lower jitter), OPA1612 op-amps (quieter and more transparent output stage), a retina-level display (sharper screen), and a customizable RGB gradient light ring on the volume knob.
Everything else — the DAC chips, streaming platform, power supply, chassis, and connectivity — is the same as the standard Gen 2. The $540 price difference pays for precision clock and op-amp upgrades that make a real difference in sound quality.
How does the Master Edition Gen 2 compare to the standard Gen 2?
The standard Gen 2 ($859) uses OPA1642 op-amps and standard dual clocks. The Master Edition ($1,399) uses OPA1612 op-amps and Accusilicon femtosecond clocks. The OPA1612 is quieter and lower distortion. The Accusilicon clocks are more precise.
Both have the same DAC chips, the same linear power supply, the same HDMI ARC input, and the same streaming features. The Master Edition is the better choice if audio performance is the priority.
How does the Master Edition Gen 2 compare to the DMP-A8?
The DMP-A8 ($1,980) adds features the Master Edition doesn't have: analog inputs (XLR and RCA), an R2R hardware volume control, an I2S output, and a larger chassis. The A8 is the right choice if you need to connect analog sources or want the most complete preamp setup.
The Master Edition Gen 2 is the better value if you only need digital sources and want the compact A6 form factor with a refined output stage. The OPA1612 op-amps and Accusilicon clocks get it very close to A8-level performance for $580 less.
Is the Master Edition Gen 2 Roon Ready?
Yes — it is officially Roon Ready (certified). Connect it as a Roon endpoint and control from Roon on any tablet, laptop, or phone.
Can I connect my TV to the Master Edition Gen 2?
Yes. The HDMI ARC input accepts audio from a compatible TV's HDMI ARC output directly. TV audio — movies, streaming video, gaming — plays through your hi-fi system. This is the same feature present on the standard Gen 2.
Does the Master Edition Gen 2 have analog inputs?
No — it accepts digital sources only. There are no analog inputs. If you need to connect a turntable, CD player with analog outputs, or other analog sources, the DMP-A8 is the right model. Give us a call at 800-942-0220 and we'll help you choose.
Is a remote control included?
No. Control is via the 6-inch touchscreen or the free EverSolo Control App on your phone or tablet. EverSolo's Bluetooth remote is sold separately if you prefer a physical control device.
Can I add local music storage?
Yes. The M.2 NVMe SSD slot on the underside holds up to 4TB (M.2 NVMe 3.0, 2280 form factor, sold separately). No screwdriver needed — installation is tool-free. Connect a USB CD drive and you can rip directly to the internal SSD.
What's the difference between the Black and Silver versions?
They are identical in every technical way. The Silver version has a silver-colored chassis and badge — useful if your system is mostly silver gear. Both are listed separately on the Audio Advisor site. Call us at 800-942-0220 if you'd like help comparing the two finishes.
