One Hundred and Forty-Five Watts in Eight Pounds
The AMP-F2 is a power amplifier and nothing else. No volume control, no DAC, no streaming. It makes 145 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 250 into 4, from a Class D design in a machined aluminum box.
That box is 10.6 inches wide and the whole amplifier weighs eight pounds. It fits on a desk, behind a television or inside a cabinet, in places a conventional amplifier of this output could not go.
Bridged to mono it makes 450 watts into 2 ohms, so a pair of them handles speakers well beyond anything the size of the box would lead you to expect.
Inside the Chassis
Class D is why the numbers work. Standby draw is under half a watt and idle draw is under 14 watts, so the amplifier can be left on without meaningful cost or heat.
At full load it can pull up to 900 watts from the wall, which tells you the supply is not the limiting factor when the music suddenly asks for everything at once.
The chassis measures 10.6 inches wide, 9.0 deep and 3.1 high, machined from aluminum rather than folded from sheet. At eight pounds it does not need a reinforced shelf or a dedicated rack space.
Who Is This Amplifier Best For?
- Space is the constraint, not the budget — 145 watts per channel from a box 10.6 inches wide and eight pounds fits where a conventional amplifier of the same output simply will not.
- You leave the system switched on — under half a watt in standby and under 14 watts at idle, so leaving it powered costs almost nothing and generates almost no heat.
- You are driving a second room or a desk system — enough power for a real pair of speakers, in a chassis that hides behind a monitor or inside a cabinet without a ventilation plan.
- You may want mono later — bridged it makes 450 watts into 2 ohms, so a second unit turns a compact stereo amp into a capable monoblock pair.
- You want to pick the preamp for the sound you are after — DMP-A8 is the house match; any streamer/DAC with volume also serves
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect a preamplifier, or a source with a variable output, to the inputs. Speakers go to the binding posts. For mono, set bridged mode on each amplifier before connecting anything.
It can live out of sight. Class D means it runs cool, so a cabinet or a shelf behind a television is a reasonable home for it.
Pairs Well With
Here are some great companions:
- Preamplifier: Required, and the natural next decision — see our Preamplifiers.
- Speaker Cables: Carry the current properly — see our Speaker Cables.
- Interconnects: Balanced XLR is the better run from preamp to amp — see our Interconnect Cables.
- Audio Rack: Give the amplifier a proper shelf — see our Audio Racks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much power does it make?
145 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 250 into 4 ohms. Bridged to mono it makes 450 watts into 2 ohms.
How small is it?
10.6 inches wide, 9.0 deep and 3.1 high, weighing eight pounds, in a machined aluminum chassis.
Does it have a volume control or a DAC?
It is a power amplifier only, so it takes its level from a preamplifier or from a source with a variable output.
What does it draw at idle?
Under 14 watts at idle and under half a watt in standby. At full load it can draw up to 900 watts.
Can I use two as monoblocks?
Yes. Each bridges to mono, making 450 watts into 2 ohms.
Can it live in a cabinet?
Yes. The Class D output stage runs cool, unlike EverSolo's larger AMP-F10, which needs open air around its heatsinks.
