A Replacement Cable for Focal Clear Pro and Elear
A headphone cable must physically match both ends of the chain: the connector on your headphones and the connector on your amplifier or DAC. Getting either wrong means the cable simply will not plug in, which is why the fit matters as much as the build quality.
This cable is built for Focal Clear Pro and Elear headphones, terminating in dual 3.5mm connectors at the headphone end, the connector Focal uses on Clear, Stellia, Celestee and Elegia, and a 4-pin XLR balanced plug at the amplifier end.
Dual 3.5mm Connectors at the Headphone End
Focal Clear Pro and Elear both use dual 3.5mm connectors at the headphone end, one plug per earcup, the same termination Focal uses across its Clear, Stellia, Celestee and Elegia headphones. This is a different connector from the locking Lemo-style plug Focal uses on its flagship Utopia.
A 4-Pin XLR Balanced Amplifier Connection
The amplifier end of this cable is a 4-pin XLR balanced plug, built for a balanced desktop headphone amplifier rather than the single-ended 1/4" or 3.5mm jack most amplifiers use instead, so check your amp's output before ordering.
The Connectors, Explained
This cable terminates in dual 3.5mm connectors, one per earcup, at the headphone end, and a 4-pin XLR balanced plug at the amplifier end, matching Focal's own factory termination for this cable.
Who Is This Headphone Cable Best For?
- You own Focal Clear Pro or Elear headphones — this cable is built for the dual 3.5mm connector those two models share
- Your headphone amplifier has a 4-pin balanced XLR output — the amp end of this cable is built specifically for that balanced connection
- You want a factory-matched replacement rather than an aftermarket cable of unknown fit — dual 3.5mm at the headphone end is the connector Focal itself uses on Clear Pro and Elear
- You also own a Focal Stellia, Celestee or Elegia — those models share the same dual 3.5mm headphone-end connector, though check your own amplifier's connector before assuming this exact cable fits
- Your amplifier only has a single-ended 1/4" or 3.5mm headphone jack, not balanced XLR — check for a single-ended version of this cable before ordering; this one is built specifically for a 4-pin XLR balanced amp output
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Plug the 4-pin XLR end into the balanced headphone output on your amplifier, and the dual 3.5mm end into your Focal Clear Pro or Elear headphones' earcups.
Then power up the system as usual. Other and longer lengths available. Call for prices.
Pairs Well With
A headphone cable is one link between your headphones and an amplifier or DAC. It usually joins these categories.
- Headphone Amplifiers — the amp end of this cable plugs directly into one
- Headphones — the cable only helps once it's matched to the right pair
- Digital-to-Analog Converters — many desktop DACs include a headphone output this cable can feed
- Headphone Accessories — stands, cases and other gear for the same headphone this cable serves
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit the Focal Utopia?
Utopia uses a different, locking Lemo-style connector at the headphone end, not the dual 3.5mm connector this cable is built for, so this is not the right cable for it. A separate cable is built specifically for Utopia.
What happens if I order the wrong connector for my headphones?
It simply won't plug in. Headphone connectors aren't interchangeable the way many amplifier connectors are, so check your headphones' own connector, and the amp-end plug your amplifier or DAC uses, before ordering.
Which other Focal models share this connector?
Focal uses dual 3.5mm connectors on Clear, Stellia, Celestee and Elegia as well as Clear Pro and Elear. Utopia is the exception, using a locking Lemo-style connector instead.
Is there a single-ended version of this cable?
This specific cable is built for a 4-pin balanced XLR amplifier connection. If your amplifier only has a single-ended jack, call us and we will help find the right fit.
Is there a step up?
Not in the Focal headphone cable line we carry. The Clear Pro / Elear cable is the top of that range. If you want to go further, call us and we will talk through the whole chain.
