A Front Soundstage as Wide as Your 75-Inch TV
A 75-inch screen spans more than five feet of wall. Most soundbars cover only part of that, so the sound stays bunched in the middle while the picture stretches out. The MartinLogan Discrete Cinema Soundbar 75 measures 65.4 inches wide. It runs nearly edge to edge under the screen it was built for.
Inside one slim bar are three discrete speakers: left, center, and right. Each one is wired separately. Because the bar is passive, your AV receiver or amplifier powers it and handles the decoding.
Twice the Center-Channel Woofers, Where Dialogue Lives
The Soundbar 75 carries 13 drivers. Three Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeters cover the highs, one per channel. Ten 4-inch woven fiberglass woofers handle the midrange and upper bass. Compared with the smaller Soundbar 65, MartinLogan doubled the woofers in the center channel and added more to the left and right channels.
The cabinet is just 4.76 inches tall and 2.37 inches deep, and it weighs 18 pounds. A low-profile wall bracket is included. You can also attach the bar to the TV itself with the MartinLogan TV Mount Kit, sold separately.
Check Your Receiver, Then Add a Subwoofer
The bar is rated at 4 ohms and works with amplifiers rated for 4, 6, or 8 ohms. MartinLogan recommends 20 to 210 watts. It is designed for the front channels of a home theater rather than deep bass, so plan on a subwoofer.
What Fits Inside a Cabinet Only 2.37 Inches Deep
Start with the tweeter. Each Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter folds a 5.25 by 1.75 inch thin film diaphragm into a driver just 1 by 1.4 inches. That puts far more working surface in a small space than a typical dome tweeter. A Folded Motion Waveguide guides the output, with rated dispersion of 90 by 90 degrees.
That wide pattern is meant for real rooms, where family and friends spread across a sofa. It aims to reach every seat, not only the one in the middle, with the same tweeter on each channel.
The Case for an Aluminum Cabinet
The enclosure is sealed, extruded aluminum. Its strength allows thinner walls than MDF, which leaves more room inside a very slim shape. MartinLogan isolates the three channels from one another within the cabinet, so left, center, and right stay truly separate.
A 2.5-way crossover divides the signal between tweeters and woofers. Rated frequency response is 100 Hz to 25 kHz, ±3 dB. Sensitivity is 93 dB at 2.83 volts and one meter, an efficient rating that lets an everyday AV receiver drive the bar without strain.
Wire It on the Floor, Hang It Once
Removable Phoenix-style connectors with tool-free levers let you pre-wire the bar before it goes up. Once it is mounted, recessed channels in the chassis keep the speaker cables out of sight.
Who Is This Passive Soundbar Best For?
- Owners of 75-inch class TVs — At 65.4 inches wide, the bar matches the width of the screen, so sound and picture line up.
- Viewers who put the center channel first — MartinLogan doubled the center channel’s woofers compared with the Soundbar 65, and the center carries most movie dialogue.
- Home theater owners who already have an AV receiver — You keep your own decoding, room correction, and amplifier.
- Clean wall-mounted installs — A 2.37-inch depth, pre-wire connectors, and hidden cable channels keep the look tidy.
- Not ideal if you want separate left and right speakers flanking the screen — One bar locks in the spacing. Three MartinLogan Discrete Cinema LCR7 speakers let you place each channel on its own, mounted horizontally or vertically.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Run three pairs of speaker wire from the front left, center, and right outputs of your AV receiver or multichannel amp. Seat them in the bar’s removable Phoenix-style connector, matching the printed positive and negative markings. Then hang the bar on its included wall bracket, or on the TV using the optional mount kit.
In the receiver’s speaker setup, choose Small for the front three channels and turn on the subwoofer. The bar’s rated response begins at 100 Hz, so start the crossover there or one step above. MartinLogan advises against pairing Discrete Cinema LCR and soundbar models across the front three. One bar, three channels, done.
Pairs Well With
Complete your theater with these companions:
- Subwoofers — A sub takes over below the bar’s 100 Hz starting point.
- Speaker cables — Plan on three runs, one for each channel.
- Bookshelf speakers — Add surround channels to round out the room.
- Audio racks — Keep your receiver and sources organized and ventilated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the MartinLogan Soundbar 75 have a built-in amplifier?
No. It is passive, so it needs an AV receiver or multichannel amplifier with at least three channels to power the left, center, and right speakers.
Will it fit under my 75-inch TV?
It was sized for 75-inch class displays. The bar is 65.4 inches wide, 4.76 inches tall, and 2.37 inches deep.
Do I need a subwoofer?
Yes. The rated response starts at 100 Hz, and MartinLogan built the series to work with a subwoofer for deep bass.
What is included in the box?
The soundbar comes with a low-profile wall bracket and a Phoenix-style wiring connector. Wall screws are not supplied, so choose hardware that suits your wall. The TV Mount Kit is sold separately.
Can I attach it directly to my TV?
Yes, with the MartinLogan TV Mount Kit, which uses your TV’s VESA points and a third-party TV wall mount. If your TV has an IR sensor notch on its bottom edge, the bar may not sit fully flush.
How much amplifier power does it need?
MartinLogan recommends 20 to 210 watts. The bar is rated at 4 ohms and is compatible with amplifiers rated for 4, 6, or 8 ohms.
