Measure Across the Feet

The measurement that matters is not the plinth but the footprint of the feet, which on many designs sit wider and further back than the cabinet above them. A turntable whose feet reach past the shelf is not supported, whatever the plinth is doing.

Depth catches people out more often than width. At 450 mm this board takes decks that a 355 mm shelf leaves hanging over the front — which is exactly where you do not want a tonearm.
