A Hybrid Amplifier — The Best of Both Worlds
An integrated amplifier is the heart of a stereo system. It takes the signal from your sources — turntable, CD player, streamer, even your phone — and boosts it so your speakers can fill the room. One box holds the preamp and power amp, so setup stays simple.
The Vincent Audio SV-700 is one of Vincent's senior hybrid amplifiers. It uses a symmetrical, dual-mono design with zero negative feedback. Seven tubes shape the signal in the preamp stage: one 6Z4, two 12AX7, and four 12AU7. Solid-state Toshiba transistors handle the power amp stage.
A front-panel switch lets you choose how it runs. Pure Class A gives you the purest, most linear sound, at 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Class AB gives you full power instead: 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watts into 4 ohms. Either way, you get the sound you want — maximum headroom, or Class A's famously smooth character.
Modern Features in a Classic Design
Alongside three stereo RCA inputs, the SV-700 adds a balanced XLR input. That's a touch usually reserved for high-end separates, and it lets the amp pair well with premium sources and preamps.
A built-in DAC feeds both an optical (Toslink) and a coaxial digital input, turning digital music back into the analog signal your speakers need. Inside, a 500-watt toroidal transformer and Panasonic capacitors keep the power supply steady, even when the music gets demanding. An aluminum remote control is included.
Who Is This Amplifier Best For?
- You want the flexibility of switchable Class A or Class AB operation in one hybrid component — no separate preamp and power amp to manage.
- You're building a reference two-channel system and want a balanced XLR input alongside standard RCA connections.
- Your speakers need serious power and current — floorstanders or demanding loads that reward 100 watts (or more) per channel.
- You want digital inputs with a built-in DAC, without needing Bluetooth — this is a purist design built around analog and wired digital sources, not wireless streaming.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Three stereo RCA inputs and one balanced XLR input handle sources like a CD player, a preamp, or a phono preamp. There's no built-in phono stage, so vinyl fans will need a separate phono preamplifier — we carry several affordable options.
The optical and coaxial digital inputs feed the built-in DAC, ideal for a TV, streaming box, or CD transport.
On the output side, you get a preamp output, a record output, four pairs of speaker terminals (enough to run two pairs of speakers at once), two 3.5mm trigger jacks for system automation, and the included aluminum remote.
Pairs Well With
Building your system? Here are some great companions for the SV-700:
- Speakers: With up to 100 watts per channel, this amp can drive serious floorstanders. Browse our Floorstanding Speakers or Bookshelf Speakers.
- Phono Preamplifier: Spinning vinyl? See our Phono Preamps, including Vincent Audio options.
- Cables: The balanced XLR input deserves a good cable. Browse our Interconnects and Speaker Cables.
- Audio Rack: At 53 lbs, the SV-700 needs a sturdy, stable home — see our Audio Racks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the SV-700 have a built-in phono stage?
No — you'll need a separate phono preamp for your turntable. Call 800-942-0220 for a recommendation.
What does the Class A / Class AB switch do?
It lets you choose pure Class A operation (50 watts per channel) for maximum linearity, or Class AB (up to 100 watts into 8 ohms) for more power and headroom.
Do I need to use the balanced XLR input?
No — the three RCA inputs work great for most sources. The XLR input is there if your preamp or source supports a balanced connection.
Can it drive large or power-hungry speakers?
Yes — up to 100 watts into 8 ohms and 160 into 4 ohms in Class AB mode handles most floorstanders and demanding speakers well.
Does it have Bluetooth?
No. The SV-700 is built around analog and wired digital connections rather than wireless streaming.
What finish options are available?
The SV-700 comes in black or silver, so you can match your other components.
