What You Need to Know
Your Vinyl Collection Outgrew the Shelf
You bought the Vulcan TT Turntable Stand thinking 100+ records was plenty. Then a year went by. Now you've got 150, maybe 175 albums — and the bottom shelf is full. The new ones are stacking up on the floor next to the stand.
This add-on shelf solves it. One kit gives you another full LP storage shelf, designed to slide right onto your existing Vulcan TT or Vulcan Audio Rack. Another 100+ records, all in the same piece of furniture.
Each LP shelf holds up to 80 pounds of vinyl — roughly 200 records depending on the thickness. So if your collection is on the smaller side or you've got a lot of single LPs vs. boxed sets, you may even fit more than 100 on the new shelf.
The X-Brace Trick — Strength That Grows With Your Collection
200 vinyl records can weigh up to 80 pounds. That's a lot of weight on one shelf. So how does Pangea keep the stand rigid even when the new shelf is loaded?
Two steel X-braces — one on each side of the shelf level. They lock the four 13" posts together, locking the new shelf into a stiff unit.
The clever part: as you add more records, the X-braces tighten. Weight makes the frame stronger, not weaker. So your stand grows tougher as your collection grows bigger.
Tool-Less Install — Same Easy Vulcan Method
Like every Vulcan accessory, this kit needs zero tools to install. No screwdriver. No wrench. Just your hands.
To add it: flip your stand upside down, slide the new posts onto the existing threaded rods, attach the two X-braces, set the new shelf in place, and hand-tighten the side tubes. About 5 to 10 minutes of work.
One Pangea owner said adding a Vulcan shelf was "as easy as changing a light bulb." This one's a couple extra steps for the bracing — still simple, still no tools.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many records will it really hold?
100+ standard LPs. Vinyl weight varies — single LPs are about 0.25 lbs each, while boxed sets and 180-gram audiophile pressings can be heavier. The shelf is rated for 80 lbs total. So depending on your collection, you might fit 100 to 200+ records on the new shelf.
How tall is the LP storage section?
About 13" of usable clearance — plenty for any standard 12" LP jacket with room above for easy access. You can flip through records without bending down.
Do I really not need any tools to install this?
That's right — no tools needed. The kit slides onto the existing threaded rods of your stand and uses the same hand-tightened side tubes. Most folks finish in 5 to 10 minutes.
What's the X-brace, and why does it matter?
It's two steel cross-supports — one on each side of the new shelf level. Vinyl is heavy. The X-braces lock the four posts together and keep the stand rigid under load. The clever part: as you add more records, the braces tighten. So a fully-loaded shelf is actually stronger than an empty one.
Will this fit my Vulcan Audio Rack — the regular shelf rack?
Yes. Pangea's compatibility list includes both the Vulcan TT Turntable Stand and the standard Vulcan Audio Rack. So if you've got a 4-shelf or 5-shelf Vulcan and want to dedicate one level to vinyl storage, this kit will work.
Can I add more than one LP storage shelf to my stand?
Yes, as long as you stay under the 42" total stand height limit and the 240 lb total weight capacity. Most folks add one or two LP shelves to their existing stand. If your collection is well past 200 records, consider the Vulcan TTx2 Turntable Stand, which was built from the start for 200+ records.
Where does the new shelf go on my stand?
Most folks add it to the bottom — flip the stand upside down and bolt the new shelf onto the bottom. To add it in the middle, you'll need to partially disassemble the upper section, slide the new shelf in, and rebuild. Bottom is always easier.
Will the new shelf change how my turntable plays?
No. The X-braces actually make the whole stand more rigid, which is good for turntable performance — less vibration travels up to your gear. The top platform stays exactly where it was, just with more records below it.
Are returns easy if it doesn't fit?
Yes. Audio Advisor offers a 60-day money-back guarantee. If it's not right for your setup, send it back. Just keep the original packaging.
